Everything You Need to Know About Nicorette QuickMist

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) comes in a range of different forms. Depending on whether you want something fast-acting or discreet, there’s a form of NRT that can help every quitter, and every quit journey.

If you’re looking for a Nicorette® product that relieves cravings quickly, and which is suitable for light or heavy smokers, then NICORETTE© QuickMist could be for you. Here’s everything you need to know about the mouth spray designed to quickly relieve unpleasant smoking withdrawal symptoms.

What is NICORETTE© QuickMist?

NICORETTE© QuickMist is a mouth spray designed to relieve the cravings and withdrawal symptoms that smokers can face when cutting out nicotine during an attempt to quit smoking. Suitable both for cutting down gradually and quitting abruptly, QuickMist works by releasing small amounts of nicotine when sprayed which is then absorbed into the body through the lining of the mouth.

How to use QuickMist

Sometimes referred to simply as NICORETTE© mouth spray, QuickMist is a portable, hand held mouth spray that starts to relieve cravings in just 30 seconds.

On first use, point the spray away from you before pressing the top of the dispenser three times until you see a fine mist appear. This is known as “priming”.

Next, press the top again, this time into your mouth. The nicotine will pass rapidly into your body through the lining of your mouth, relieving your craving to smoke without giving you the “buzz” of smoking a cigarette.

For best results, it’s important to avoid inhaling while spaying QuickMist into your mouth and to also avoid swallowing for a few seconds after spraying.

When should I use Quickmist?

QuickMist is appropriate for any type of quitter.

Although it’s always best to stop smoking completely, QuickMist can be used to help quitters cut down gradually, by replacing certain cigarettes throughout the day. In fact, simply reducing the number of cigarettes you smoke may help you to become more motivated to stop smoking completely. Like the NICORETTE© Inhalator, QuickMist can also be used at times when you can’t, or don’t want to smoke. This could include times you’re in a place in which smoking is prohibited, or when you’re around non-smokers.

QuickMist can also be used on forms of public transport – even aeroplanes – making it perfect for commuters or long-distance travellers.

Is QuickMist safe to use?

Like all forms of NRT, QuickMist is far safer than smoking. Since it’s the toxins in cigarettes that cause smoking-related diseases, the benefits of quitting with QuickMist far outweigh any potential risks that come with using an NRT product. That said, if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding or have a pre-existing medical condition like diabetes, kidney disease, liver disease, an overactive thyroid, stomach ulcer, or are taking any other medicines, it’s always best to speak to a doctor or pharmacist before using NRT products like QuickMist.

How often should I use QuickMist?

Many smokers who use QuickMist will require 1-2 sprays every 30 minutes to 1 hour. When a craving hits, try firstly using one spray, before taking another if your cravings haven’t subsided within a few minutes. It’s important that you don’t use more than 2 sprays per dose or more than 4 sprays every hour. Do not exceed more than 64 sprays per day.

If you overuse QuickMist, you may experience side effects. The may include nausea, salivation, headaches, abdominal pain, sweating, hearing disturbance, diarrhea, dizziness, or weakness. If you get any of these symptoms, contact a doctor or your nearest A&E department as soon as you can.
