At Nicorette®, we believe that quitting smoking is one of the most incredible things you can do. But, we also understand that it’s a challenge. Deciding to stop smoking can be a life-changing decision and having a positive experience as you start on your journey, has the power to motivate you to keep going. For this reason, it is important that you choose a quitting strategy that will give you a greater chance of achieving your stop smoking goal vs willpower alone. That’s where Nicotine Replacement Therapy can help to support smokers on their journey to stop smoking.

Please read the Patient Information Leaflet carefully on how to use the product you have selected. In general, the NHS advise that treatment with NRT usually lasts 8-12 weeks, before you gradually reduce the dose and eventually stop.

If you have quit smoking and want to stop using NRT but are finding this difficult, you should contact your doctor, nurse or pharmacist for advice.

You can start immediately. Choose a start date for your quit and begin to use Nicorette that day. Download the Nicorette My Quit Guide for additional support on your quit journey.

Yes, Nicorette can help reduce the number of cigarettes you smoke. For example, you can use Nicorette in the moments where you don’t want to smoke and avoid harm to others e.g children or family. You can use Nicorette in smoke free areas e.g Pub, work, public transport.

By helping you to tackle cravings, Nicorette may also help increase your motivation to quit. When making a quit attempt a behavioural support programme will increase your chances of success vs willpower alone.

You should try to give up smoking without NRT. Stopping completely is by far the best option. The earlier and quicker you do this the better it is for you and your baby.

If you can’t manage this, you should talk to your doctor, nurse or pharmacist for advice. They may discuss using NRT as a safer alternative to smoking as the risks to your baby are far less than smoking. Medicines can affect the unborn baby so always talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine in pregnancy.

Nicorette offers a range of effective nicotine replacement therapy products, but it can be difficult to know which product is right for you.

Your quitting journey is unique to you so the right product for you will be down to personal preference. Explore our range and use our product selector to find the right one for your stop smoking journey.

The benefits of stopping smoking far outweigh any potential risk from using nicotine from NRT. It is the toxins in cigarette smoke such as tar, lead, cyanide and ammonia that cause smoking related disease and death, not the nicotine.

You may think that smoking helps relieve feelings of anxiety and stress, but it does not deal with the cause of the stress and can lead to a number of serious diseases.

In addition, the feeling of relaxation after smoking is likely to be temporary, with withdrawal symptoms and cravings soon returning when nicotine levels start to drop. Nicotine replacement therapy can help relieve nicotine withdrawal symptoms such as irritability, low mood, anxiety, restlessness and cravings when used in place of cigarettes.

Nicorette is available to purchase at NicoretteDirect as well as all major retailers and pharmacists.

If you don't feel able to stop smoking completely, you can gradually cut down to quit with Nicorette. To do this, gradually reduce your cigarette consumption by using Nicorette to help control your cravings or when you would usually smoke. Read the patient information leaflet to see the maximum amount of Nicorette you can use each day.

The age which you can purchase Nicorette is retailer dependent. However, Nicorette can be used by those of above 12 years.

Vaping FAQs

When you cut down or stop vaping, your body may miss the nicotine you’ve been absorbing. You may experience nicotine withdrawal symptoms and cravings to vape. Rather than eliminating nicotine suddenly when you cut down or stop vaping, Nicorette QuickMist provides a measured dose of nicotine to relieve and/or prevent craving and nicotine withdrawal symptoms. This can help keep you on track to quit.

Without the distraction from cravings and withdrawal symptoms, you can focus your mind on getting through the moments you might normally vape – such as on a coffee break.

Using Nicorette® QuickMist is not trading one nicotine addiction for another. Once you have stopped vaping and as your cravings gradually lower, you should reduce your nicotine intake and stop using Nicorette® QuickMist completely.

If you want to stop using the mouthspray but are finding this difficult you should contact your doctor, nurse or pharmacist for advice.

Nicotine is an addictive substance, which makes quitting smoking (and vaping) so difficult. Nicorette also contains nicotine but is designed specifically to fight craving as you reduce to quit tobacco/nicotine. We believe that being free of both tobacco and nicotine is the best quitting outcome, so we do not encourage use of our products unless it is within the context of quitting (including reducing prior to quitting). If you have a concern or an issue with ongoing use of Nicorette, please contact Nicorette Customer Services or speak directly to your GP/HCP for further guidance.
