Nicorette’s guide to the disposable vapes ban :
Our useful guide to help you prepare for June 1st and beyond.

When are disposable vapes being banned?
The ban on the sale and supply of disposable vapes in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland is expected to begin on 1 June, 2025. This is specifically relevant to ‘single-use’ vapes, which are discarded when the cartridge runs out.
What is a disposable vape?
A disposable, or single-use, vape is a device pre-filled with e-liquid and with a built-in battery that cannot be recharged or refilled.
Why are disposable vapes being banned, and what does it mean?
A key driving force behind introducing the ban is the environmental impact of disposable vapes. Single-use vapes cannot be recharged, or refilled, so they are often disposed of in bins or simply discarded as litter, instead of being recycled. This has led to a significant amount of extra rubbish on UK streets, with concerns being raised about effects on the environment.
Another key driver is the rise of vaping amongst youths which coincided with the newer generation of disposable vapes introduced in 2021.
According to the UK government in 2024 the number of child vapers had tripled since 2021.
The ban follows a public consultation on vaping and smoking, which found that almost 70% of those surveyed (including parents, teachers and healthcare professionals) supported taking this step.
How will the disposable vape ban affect me?
Starting from June 1st, all vapes sold legally in Great Britain must be reusable, meaning the vapes can be recharged and refilled. Adult vapers will continue to have access to various reusable vape options. However vapers could also use this as an opportunity to quit vaping altogether.

The journey to quitting vaping can be different for everyone. For example, some people may choose to slowly reduce when they choose to quit vaping, while others who feel ready might decide to quit in one step. There is no one-size-fits-all approach.
